Oak Grove Road Plans and Construction Schedule

Oak Grove Road Plans and Construction Schedule

Dear Oak Creek Club Community:

I wanted to provide an update regarding the Oak Grove Road plans and construction schedule.

As you may know, the Oak Grove Road project has been in a state of “limbo” for several years while negotiations with the County were ongoing regarding the final layout and funding for the project.

In 2023, Woodlawn worked closely with the County and our civil engineering team (Charles P. Johnson) to design and approve a plan that best met the County’s needs. The project subsequently was competitively bid to several qualified contractors.  Woodlawn and the County then agreed to a final budget for the project, and the parties completed an agreement in mid-April for the County to provide the required funding. Until the funding was 100% secured from the County, the project was not viable.  Notification of the improvements are now provided since the project has been green-lighted and fully funded and construction will commence.

Some of the improvements that will positively impact the traveling public and Oak Creek Club are briefly outlined as follows:

  1. Realignment of Oak Grove Road to the Church Road intersection with turn lanes; will align with future roadway into Locust Hill development
  2. Installation of an 8-foot shared use path along the northern side (westbound) of the roadway
  3. Widening of the existing pavement to include a 6-foot shoulder east of the Whistling Duck/Rexford intersection along the eastbound lane
  4. Streetlights along the new roadway
  5. Improved storm drain system
  6. Dedicated left turn into Whistling Duck (the Perrywood community)
  7. Crosswalks at Rexford & Whistling Duck

The construction work is expected to begin in May and is expected to be completed in late 2024, weather permitting. Existing traffic flows on Oak Grove Road will continue throughout construction under daily lane closures with flagman as work alongside the roadway is completed safely.

Attached is a partial plan set showing the streetlight / street tree/ pavement markings.

Site Plan

We have requested this be placed on the agenda for the upcoming Town Hall meeting to present to the community.

Sincerely,
