Did You Know: Conservation Areas

Preservation of Woodland Conservation Areas in your Community

Woodlands provide a variety of benefits to individual properties and the county. For you, the conservation areas in the Oak Creek Club community provide an increase in your property value. Studies have shown that wooded areas add $5,000 to $10,000 to the value of a property. The added value is higher where wooded areas are adjacent to other protected areas of woodlands. In many cases, community woodlands also provide privacy and screening from other properties. Community woodland areas have also been identified to reduce heating and cooling bills by shading your home and blocking the wind. For all you nature lovers, Community Woodlands provides more livable communities and wildlife habitats.

  • Did you know you can cut back a branch, vine, or bush encroaching on your property from the conservation area?

Yes! You can cut back a branch, vine, or bush encroaching on your property from the Woodland Conservation Area. Once you cut them back the branches can be placed back in the conservation area.

  • Do you need approval before taking action to cut back a branch, vine, or bush encroaching on your property?

No. You do not need approval to cut back a branch, vine, or bush encroaching on your property. However, you do need approval from the HOA to remove a tree.

  • What to do if your property is at risk of being affected by a hazardous tree?

Please get in touch with the management team. Please provide photos of the tree that you are concerned about and the surrounding area. The management team will send a licensed Arborist to inspect the condition of the tree in question. The Arborist will inform the management team if the tree is in jeopardy of falling and striking a structure or activity area (target), thus threatening property damage or personal injury.

  • What to do if your property is at risk of exotic and invasive vegetation?

Removal of exotic and invasive vegetation is allowed. Please get in touch with the HOA for authorization. See the list of exotic and invasive vegetation provided Here.

  • Can you seed and maintain the conservation area near your home?

Conservation areas are not allowed to be maintained, and any removal of trees or vegetation is prohibited. Seeding woodland conservation areas with grass seed is also not allowed.

  • Are you unsure of where your property line starts and where your property line ends?
